SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance “unequivocally condemns the terrorist attack on Tel Aviv which claimed the lives of several civilians, including a Greek national, and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims,” it said on Wednesday.
In a joint statement by the Sections of Foreign Policy and International Relations, the main opposition party said that the new escalation of the tension in the Middle East significantly raises the deficit of security in the greater region and results in the tragic loss of civilian life.
“Under this angle, the UN, the EU, and the international community in its entirety ought to assume the necessary initiatives for the immediate end of these aggressive acts and the requisite self-restraint of all sides in order to prevent a generalized conflict in the Middle East.”
The party also called on the government to help the Greek diaspora in the region, and to “return to the basic tenets of Greek diplomacy, not as a military outpost, but as a mediator and factor of peace and stability on the basis of international law.”
